Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) DIP is a pure carbon dioxide shielding gas widely used in MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding, particularly for carbon and mild steels. It is supplied in high-pressure cylinders in vapor form and provides deep weld penetration, making it ideal for heavy-duty fabrication and structural welding.
Recommended regulator: W070230 or equivalent suitable for CO₂ vapor service.
APPLICATIONS:
CO₂ DIP is commonly used in manual and robotic GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) of mild and carbon steels. It is especially effective for heavy fabrication, shipbuilding, automotive manufacturing, and general structural welding where high penetration and strong weld integrity are required.
FEATURES & BENEFITS:
- Deep weld penetration, ideal for thick sections and structural joints.
- Cost-effective shielding gas, suitable for high-volume welding operations.
- Good mechanical properties in welds with proper technique.
- Compatible with both dip transfer (short circuit) and spray transfer processes, though best suited for dip (short arc) welding.
HAZARDS:
- Acts as an asphyxiant in high concentrations – ensure adequate ventilation.
- Rapid gas release can cause cold burns – avoid skin contact with gas jets or frosted equipment.
- Store and transport upright and securely fastened to prevent cylinder damage.
