Nitrogen (N₂, R-728) is a colorless, odorless, and inert gas that is non-flammable and non-toxic. It is produced in large volumes by fractional distillation of liquefied air at air separation units. Nitrogen is available in various purity grades, with high-purity nitrogen undergoing additional purification processes. It is supplied in high-pressure cylinders or as a cryogenic liquid.
